Megapixel Visual Reality Joins SDVoE Alliance Leading up to ISE 2020

SDVoE integration on HELIOS 8K LED processing platform provides full AV-over-IP input and output plus new features – PIPs, multiple concurrent input streams to drive multiple displays, and more

MONTREAL — Jan. 29, 2020 — The SDVoE Alliance® today announced Megapixel VR has joined the alliance as an adopting member and has integrated SDVoE into its HELIOS 8K LED Processing Platform. HELIOS is the first LED platform on the market designed to connect easily to conventional IP networks. The addition of SDVoE on the HELIOS platform allows full AV-over-IP input and output with new features such as PIPs, multiple concurrent input streams to drive multiple displays, and more.

HELIOS will be showcased at ISE 2020 (RAI Amsterdam, Feb. 11-14) on the ROE Visual stand 12-F80. The SDVoE Alliance will be on stand 1-F40.

“We are excited to announce SDVoE integration with HELIOS because of how flexible and streamlined the overall AV system can become by leveraging integration with the rest of the SDVoE ecosystem,” said Scott Blair, product manager at Megapixel VR. “With such strong and growing industry support for SDVoE, Megapixel VR was eager to develop the first LED SDVoE integration within its new Processing Platform. This allows high performance LED displays to become display destinations as part of a networked SDVoE implementation. This development now opens up the possibility of LED display resolutions up to 8K in an SDVoE ecosystem running adjacent to standard projection and LCD display technologies.”

“The Megapixel VR team has an impressive track record for innovation in digital display with numerous award-winning products and projects,” said Justin Kennington, president of the SDVoE Alliance. “We are proud to welcome them to the SDVoE Alliance and look forward to experiencing how our members will take advantage of the HELIOS 8K LED processing platform in upcoming installations.”

The HELIOS LED Processing Platform reimagines processing from the ground up to support large-format LED displays for use in demanding pro-AV, broadcast and installation applications. HELIOS provides an end-to-end 8K workflow in just a 1RU form factor. Featuring a variety of upgradeable inputs, the HELIOS processor outputs a fully uncompressed 8K video signal for distribution over eight 10GbE fiber links. An industry first, the fiber links from the processor can run on standard switching hardware and thus remove the need for expensive proprietary screen-side distribution boxes. By leveraging IT infrastructure, users have more flexibility for different wiring topologies, and installations can utilize fiber or copper that may exist in a building.

In addition to the HELIOS LED Processing Platform, Megapixel VR also recently debuted their AV monitoring platform, OMNIS. OMNIS provides aggregated, real-time health monitoring of large-scale video displays and distribution systems. A single unit can monitor hundreds of LED processors on-premises, or in the cloud, with a single health map view. Combine multiple OMNIS units via cloud-based connection to access an on-demand centralized view of over one billion pixels from any location. Upstream of a display system, OMNIS can be used to monitor SDVoE distribution networks with a first integration utilizing NETGEAR M4300 series switches.

All AV distribution and processing applications that demand zero-latency and uncompromised video can benefit from SDVoE technology, which provides an end-to-end hardware and software platform for AV extension, switching, processing and control through advanced chipset technology, common control APIs and interoperability. SDVoE network architectures are based on off-the-shelf Ethernet switches, thus offering substantial cost savings and greater system flexibility and scalability over traditional approaches, such as point-to-point extension and circuit-based AV matrix switching.

About the SDVoE Alliance

SDVoE is an initialism for “Software Defined Video over Ethernet”. The SDVoE Alliance is a non-profit consortium of technology providers collaborating to standardize the adoption of Ethernet to transport AV signals in professional AV environments, and to create an ecosystem around SDVoE technology allowing software to define AV applications. The alliance participates in tradeshows and conferences, publishes white papers and case studies and promotes SDVoE technology, and solutions based on the technology, to system integrators, designers and consultants. Training and installer certification are also part of the mandate. The SDVoE Alliance founding members are Aquantia, Christie Digital, NETGEAR, Semtech, Sony and ZeeVee. All interested parties are invited to join the alliance and work toward its goals. For more information, visit sdvoe.org and follow us on Twitter @SDVoE.
