Edgecore Networks Joins SDVoE Alliance

Leading networking solution provider introduces reliable, easy-to-use ECS5520-18X switch to support the high-bandwidth requirements of 4K/60 video

MONTREAL — Feb. 3, 2020 — The SDVoE Alliance® today announced Edgecore Networks Corporation, a leading Taiwan-based manufacturer of open networking solutions with a global presence in the US, UK, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Brazil, Singapore, Indonesia and India, has joined the alliance as an adopting member.

“The SDVoE Alliance is a natural fit with Edgecore Networks’ vision to deliver networking solutions based on open hardware and software platforms that increase customer choice, foster innovation, lower TCO and stimulate new business models,” said CK Ng, product line director at Edgecore Networks. “We are eager to collaborate with other SDVoE Alliance members in advancing the state of Pro AV.”

“We welcome Edgecore Networks to the SDVoE Alliance and look forward to the value-added networking solutions their new ECS5520-18X switch will provide to users of SDVoE technology,” said Justin Kennington, president of the SDVoE Alliance. “Edgecore’s networking and switching expertise will provide AV professionals with much-needed guidance as they transition from traditional matrix switches to more flexible, scalable and cost effective Ethernet-based AV deployments.”

ECS5520-18X product highlights

  • Designed with 16 10GbE SPF+ ports and two 40GbE uplink ports to deliver the capacity to send 4K/60 video over standard Ethernet hardware
  • Optional dual hot-swappable power supply and 2+1 fan to ensure the reliability of the switch to avoid delays and loss of data
  • Enhanced security functions
  • Comprehensive QoS and strict priority schedule
  • Simple management and maintenance for IT managers

All AV distribution and processing applications that demand zero-latency and uncompromised video can benefit from SDVoE technology, which provides an end-to-end hardware and software platform for AV extension, switching, processing and control through advanced chipset technology, common control APIs and interoperability. SDVoE network architectures are based on off-the-shelf Ethernet switches, thus offering substantial cost savings and greater system flexibility and scalability over traditional approaches, such as point-to-point extension and circuit-based AV matrix switching.

About the SDVoE Alliance

SDVoE is an initialism for “Software Defined Video over Ethernet”. The SDVoE Alliance is a non-profit consortium of technology providers collaborating to standardize the adoption of Ethernet to transport AV signals in professional AV environments, and to create an ecosystem around SDVoE technology allowing software to define AV applications. The alliance participates in tradeshows and conferences, publishes white papers and case studies and promotes SDVoE technology, and solutions based on the technology, to system integrators, designers and consultants. Training and installer certification are also part of the mandate. The SDVoE Alliance founding members are Aquantia, Christie Digital, NETGEAR, Semtech, Sony and ZeeVee. All interested parties are invited to join the alliance and work toward its goals. For more information, visit sdvoe.org and follow us on Twitter @SDVoE.
