Barcelona Civic Center Builds Flexible AV Infrastructure With SDVoE Technology

The new auditorium and cultural hub at the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi District Headquarters and J.V. Foix Library in Barcelona combines civic programming, public meetings and cultural events within a flexible, modern venue. To support a growing range of multimedia presentations and changing room configurations, the municipality required an audiovisual infrastructure that could deliver high-performance video distribution while remaining scalable for future expansion.

The installation was led by Nunsys Group, a technology consultancy and systems integrator with extensive experience in audiovisual integration and digital transformation projects. Working alongside consulting firm No Name Concept, the team implemented an SDVoE-based AV distribution platform using SDVoE Alliance member solutions, including Lindy SDVoE endpoints and a NETGEAR 10-gigabit Ethernet switch.

Challenge

As part of a broader redevelopment project, the municipality sought an audiovisual system capable of supporting high-resolution multimedia presentations across the auditorium while adapting to evolving event requirements. The infrastructure needed to provide reliable, low-latency signal distribution, simplify system management and accommodate future expansion without requiring significant hardware replacement.

Traditional point-to-point AV architectures would have limited flexibility as the venue’s needs changed. Instead, the project required a network-based platform that could distribute audio, video and control signals across multiple spaces while maintaining consistent performance during public meetings, cultural events and presentations.

Solution

To meet these requirements, Nunsys Group designed and deployed an SDVoE-based AV distribution system capable of transporting uncompressed 4K video, audio and control signals with ultra-low latency across a standard 10-gigabit Ethernet network.

The installation leverages the SDVoE ecosystem, combining Lindy SDVoE transmitters and receivers with a NETGEAR managed 10-gigabit Ethernet switch to create a centralized AV network. Using standard Ethernet infrastructure simplifies installation while allowing signals to be routed dynamically throughout the venue without the constraints of traditional matrix switching.

The SDVoE architecture also provides the flexibility to expand the system as operational requirements evolve. New endpoints can be added without redesigning the underlying infrastructure, enabling the municipality to support future room configurations, additional displays and new presentation technologies.

Results

The SDVoE-based platform reduced signal routing and configuration time while providing reliable distribution of uncompressed 4K content throughout the auditorium with minimal latency. The network-based architecture simplifies content management and supports a wide variety of event formats without requiring dedicated signal paths.
