JAM-Labs Becomes Adopting Member of SDVoE Alliance

Innovative developer introduces ORION – Operating Room Integration Over Network – system based on SDVoE technology

MONTREAL — Nov. 2, 2020 — The SDVoE Alliance® today announced that JAM-Labs, a leading developer of high-performance audio/video products for the healthcare market, has joined the alliance as an adopting member. Ultra-high quality video with zero latency is essential to the operating room, not only for procedures, but also for live case training and collaboration with clinical staff. There is a need for widely distributed video within the OR and the entire hospital. SDVoE makes that possible while removing the clutter generated by having multiple boxes typical of other solutions. JAM-Labs solutions, in particular the new ORION – Operating Room Integration Over Network – system, embrace that concept.

“Our experience over the last two decades with operating room integration requiring low-latency, uncompressed and seamless solutions led us to SDVoE as the most impactful and practical choice for IP-based audio/video transmission. JAM-Labs has and will continue to be a leading advocate for a vendor-neutral and interoperable infrastructure within the healthcare space,” said Aftab Zia, sr. technical program manager at JAM-Labs. “Our joining the SDVoE Alliance is a step toward creating a common digital interface platform based on the SDVoE layer across the various digital healthcare providers. It will be our mission to partner with integrators on adoption of the common interoperable platform. JAM-Labs strongly believes the SDVoE platform will benefit hospitals, caregivers and patients to lower costs associated with all audio, video and data exchanges within the healthcare industry. We look forward to working with other SDVoE Alliance members in advancing the technology for uncompromised video distribution systems.”

“We welcome JAM-Labs to the SDVoE Alliance and congratulate them on delivering successful projects for leading medical companies and hospitals across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East,” said Justin Kennington, president of the SDVoE Alliance. “Their focus on interoperable, scalable healthcare solutions and their expertise in UI and user experience design will undoubtedly provide new opportunities for integrators and installers to win business.”

All AV distribution and processing applications that demand zero-latency and uncompromised video can benefit from SDVoE technology, which provides an end-to-end hardware and software platform for AV extension, switching, processing and control through advanced chipset technology, common control APIs and interoperability. SDVoE network architectures are based on off-the-shelf Ethernet switches, thus offering substantial cost savings and greater system flexibility and scalability over traditional approaches, such as point-to-point extension and circuit-based AV matrix switching.

About the SDVoE Alliance

SDVoE is an initialism for “Software Defined Video over Ethernet”. The SDVoE Alliance is a nonprofit consortium of technology providers collaborating to standardize the adoption of Ethernet to transport AV signals in professional AV environments and to create an ecosystem around SDVoE technology allowing software to define AV applications. The alliance operates the free SDVoE Academy training platform, participates in tradeshows and conferences, publishes white papers and case studies and promotes SDVoE technology, and solutions based on the technology, to system integrators, designers, consultants and end users. Steering members of the SDVoE Alliance are Black Box, Christie Digital, IDK Corporation, NETGEAR, Semtech and ZeeVee. All interested parties are invited to join the alliance and work toward its goals. For more information, visit sdvoe.org or connect with us on Twitter @SDVoE, LinkedIn, and the SDVoE blog.
