The Q-SYS Platform from QSC Controls SDVoE-based Video Wall at WyreStorm’s InfoComm 2018 Booth N1564

Demonstration illustrates power of software-defined AV management and control solutions built on comprehensive SDVoE application programming interface

MONTREAL — May 31, 2018 — At InfoComm 2018 (Las Vegas, June 6-8) in booth N1564, WyreStorm, a leading AV over IP solutions provider and SDVoE member, will feature an SDVoE-based video wall. Built on WyreStorm NetworkHD 600 Series AV-over-IP transmitters and receivers, the video wall is controlled via the Q-SYS Platform from QSC and its native Q-SYS touch screen controllers.

SDVoE technology gives the WyreStorm NetworkHD 600 Series the power to deliver lossless instant seamless switching of full HDMI 4K UHD @60Hz 4:4:4 with HDR and zero-frame latency over Cat6a up to 100m via off-the-shelf 10Gb Ethernet switches.

Q-SYS is a software-based AV&C platform built around IT standards, which allows it to easily control nearly any networked endpoint without dedicated control hardware. With its open API and Q-SYS Scripting Engine (available with optional feature licenses from QSC), programmers can easily develop control scripts and plugins for seamless integration of any third-party network device into the Q-SYS Platform.

The SDVoE API provides a set of simple subroutine definitions, protocols, and tools that control complex tasks to make it easier for developers to program their application. The building blocks in the SDVoE API include easy interfaces to control upscaling up to 4K, downscaling, aspect ratio management, frame rate conversion, chroma sample conversion, video wall processing, image compositing, audio downmixing, video routing, independent audio routing, multicast IGMP management and much more.

“This integration between WyreStorm and QSC products is a shining example of SDVoE and the power of software to define AV experiences,” said Justin Kennington, president of the SDVoE Alliance. “It also answers a question we are often asked – ‘Can I use a third-party control system?’.  Clearly the answer is YES! We’ll all see it in action at InfoComm.”

“By leveraging the SDVoE API, the WyreStorm 600 Series allows Q-SYS to create custom multiscreen and multiview applications,” added WyreStorm VP of Technology, David Silberstein. “The unbelievable flexibility of using the SDVoE API allows advanced control system manufacturers like QSC the ability to create some of the most innovative system designs. The power of QSC and WyreStorm together truly demonstrates what the SDVoE Alliance is all about – which is certainly a message we’ll be communicating during InfoComm this year.”

All AV distribution and processing applications that demand zero-latency, uncompromised video can benefit from SDVoE technology, which provides an end-to-end hardware and software platform for AV extension, switching, processing and control through advanced chipset technology, common control APIs and interoperability. SDVoE network architectures are based on off-the-shelf Ethernet switches thus offering substantial cost savings and greater system flexibility and scalability over traditional approaches such as point-to-point extension and circuit-based AV matrix switching.

About the SDVoE Alliance

SDVoE is an initialism for “Software Defined Video over Ethernet”. The SDVoE Alliance is a nonprofit consortium of technology providers collaborating to standardize the adoption of Ethernet to transport AV signals in professional AV environments, and to create an ecosystem around SDVoE technology allowing software to define AV applications. The alliance participates in tradeshows and conferences, publishes white papers and case studies and promotes SDVoE technology, and solutions based on the technology, to system integrators, designers and consultants. Training and installer certification are also part of the mandate. The SDVoE Alliance founding members are Aquantia, Christie Digital, NETGEAR, Semtech, Sony and ZeeVee. All interested parties are invited to join the alliance and work toward its goals. For more information, visit sdvoe.org and follow us on Twitter @SDVoE.
